Last Saturday, March 23rd, our two classes - 6C and 6D - set off for our trip to the UK. After arrival at London’s Gatwick airport and our bus transfer to Oxford, we were picked up by members of our host families who we stayed with for one week.
On Sunday we took a train to London and walked through Hyde Park to Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guards. Then we explored the area around the Tate Modern and finally went shopping in Oxford Street.
From Monday through to Thursday we had morning lessons with native speakers from 9:15 to 12:30.
On Monday afternoon we went on an orientation tour through the city centre of Oxford and then we had some free time to visit museums, colleges and bookshops.
On Tuesday afternoon, we visited Magdalen College, which is one of Oxford's picturesque older colleges. By the way, there are over 30 colleges there! After that, there was a Harry Potter tour and at 6 pm, we went to church attending a “Choral Evensong” at Christ Church College.
The next day after school, some real action was on the agenda: laser combat fighting, and in the evening, we watched a performance of a cult musical - the Rocky Horror Show at Oxford’s New Theatre.
Thursday afternoon was great fun too when we went punting on a small river at Magdalen Bridge Boathouse.
Friday was our last day and we didn’t have to go to school as we had booked a day coach trip to explore the surroundings of Oxford, the Cotswolds and Blenheim Palace.
On Saturday 30th March our trip ended. We finally got back to Klagenfurt at around 3 pm, where our parents were eagerly waiting for us.
A big ‘thank-you’ to Mr Lenart for organising the trip and also to Mrs Schöttl and Verderber-Angelucci for their great support! We had an utterly nice, interesting and exciting week that certainly every one of us will remember for a long time.
What some of the students say about the trip:
I think the language trip was great because we got many new and interesting impressions of Oxford and we grew much better together as a class. Our programme for the week had been very well prepared and nothing went wrong, which is not always the case. Finally, I would like to say that I enjoyed the week very much and I would go back anytime and thanks to the teachers for the great organization and implementation of the week.

Oxford is such a beautiful place with amazing buildings, especially most of the university colleges. We did so many cool things like punting or laser combating. The lessons in school were mostly boring with our first teacher, because we were taught about the history of Oxford most of the time, but the last lesson with a new teacher was interesting and funny, because we had to interview people in the street about Austria and their answers were amazing.

The language trip we did was quite eventful because we experienced and saw a lot. It was something new to live with a host family although I had a bad experience with the one I moved in first. Luckily, my friends and I got a new one. Overall, I really enjoyed the trip and especially the day in London will be remembered because we saw a lot of sights like Buckingham Palace or the Tate Modern and we also went shopping in Oxford Street. But there are many other experiences we made - like punting on a river which was extremely funny and the Rocky Horror Picture Show which I really liked. Oxford is a very nice city with many old buildings and what I noticed is that the people are very friendly and helpful there.
